Bullying Related Dismissals
The Employment Appeals Tribunal found 51% of employees claims for Unfair Dismissals were associated with allegations relating to bulling and harassment in the workplace. The tribunal disclosed 53% of employers defending claims of Unfair Dismissal by employees did not have appropriate procedures in place to deal with such matters.
The Employment Appeals Tribunal findings are based on an analysis of 1018 cases dealt with by the tribunal between June 2013 and September 2015. The findings demonstrate the need for employers to ensure they have adequate, appropriate and robust policies and procedures in place to facilitate early intervention to prevent cases of alleged bulling and harassment proceeding to a hearing.
