Food Allergy Sufferers

October 3, 2015 | biocare

Will benefit from the signing of a new statutory instrument which will allow pharmacists in Ireland to dispense life saving medical devices without the need for a Doctor’s prescription. Allergy sufferers and emergency response personnel will be able to administer pre-filled syringes of life saving fixed dose medication such as adrenaline directly into the body to counteract the effects of extreme allergic reactions to certain foods such as peanuts and shellfish.

Allergy sufferers can store and carry their own personal medication in case of emergency. The new regulations will allow sports and recreation facilities including workplaces to store the medical devices subject to meeting safety and security requirements.
